Family Favorite - Tomato & Mozzarella Salad

I decided I would start putting our favorite family recipes on our blog. Sorry if the photos look yucky. I am definitely not a food photographer!

TOMATO AND MOZZARELLA SALAD

Good Tomatoes
Mozzarella Cheese
Fresh Basil
Balsamic Vinegar
Olive Oil
Lawry's Garlic Salt
Lawry's Seasoned Pepper
Lawry's Seasoned Salt

Slice a few good tomatoes and layer in a serving dish. Homegrown, local tomatoes are usually the best. And you should not refrigerate tomatoes as it will affect their flavor. Get some good Mozzarella cheese that is packed in water. I just bought some that was already formed into 'slices' - but if you get a big package just slice like you did the tomatoes. Gather up a little 'bunch' of basil and then 'chop' it like you would a green onion. It will then be in little strips. Place that on top as a garnish. I then sprinkle a little seasoned pepper on top for a bit more color. Make the dressing in a shaker. I use 3/4 vinegar to 1/4 oil for this salad. Put garlic salt and a little seasoned salt and pepper in and shake. Then I drizzle the dressing over. The dressing should be seasoned to taste. I like alot of garlic salt in it, but some might think it is too much. This salad is best when made ahead and you let it marinate a little bit.
