Don't worry Wilson Family Piano. I'm saving you!

Let me tell you a little story...

At Christmas we were in Utah with my whole family and one night in passing I told my mom I wanted the piano since we are all grown and it is not used anymore. (Not that it was ever used much to begin with. Even though my mom had good intentions and we did take lessons for a period... That piano teacher still gives me freaky nightmares. But I digress - back to the story!) So, I was telling my mom I wanted the piano and she laughed and said, "No way! I want to keep it here." So I decided to stake my claim then and told her that some day I wanted it and nobody else could have it.

Fast forward to last week.

I am up in the guest room getting ready and over the banister and downstairs I hear my mom, dad, sisters and brother-in-law all laughing and talking and having a good time and in the middle of conversation I hear the words 'craigslist' and 'piano'. What!? I booked it downstairs as quick as I could! "What are you talking about?" I say. "Are you smoking crack?" I say. "You have got to be kidding!" I say. Selling the family heirloom piano on craigslist when I asked for it just a few short months ago? (Ok. It's not an heirloom now, but with my help it can be one day!)

I can't help that my parents are wanting to get rid of stuff and downsize and simplify. I can't help it that my brother-in-law Ryan is on a 'selling stuff on craigslist' kick. The piano will be mine! And I am not backing down.

My mom was like, "What? I don't remember that. Of course you can have it." And I'm sure my dad was visually thinking about the big, bad ass flat screen tv he was going to buy with his extra green from selling the piano flying away with little cartoon wings on. Ryan was probably in never land just thinking about how exciting it is to sell stuff and what a rush you get when someone calls to inquire about something that you have posted on craigslist. And my sisters were laughing at me and telling me that I was the most sentimental of all of us.

I shudder to think of where that piano would be now if I had not overheard those 2 words! What if I had not been in Utah then!? Let's just not think about that.

My sister Carly is moving here - hopefully in the next couple of months and the piano will be riding shotgun! And as soon as it gets here Parker, Demi and I are all going to be taking piano lessons. But for now I will just spend my days looking around my house and visually re-arranging my furniture to accommodate our new addition.

I can hardly wait!

EDIT:
Oh! And by the way. I have to get that buck lamp that is on the piano too. The piano would totally be lonely without it. The are two peas in a pod. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Oil and vinegar. It might not go the best in my house because of the lack of brass accessories around - but it will be ok. I will make it work. I will just throw in a brass frame here and there around my family room to tie it in with everything else. Maybe a picture of a deer somewhere...

you're right the piano shouldn't be sold on craigslist. i'm just wondering how they will get it up the stairs from the baesment and onto a u-haul to bring it to texas. that seems like the real problem!

Chris has moved our piano soooo many times (13). I inherited my mom & dad's piano; the one that I learned on. We hauled it from Idaho in the back of the little red pick-up all the way to California. My kids took lessons from Amy Hogan while we lived in Houston. It was great! I wish you well. This piano thing has only improved the life of our family. It will last forever, too!!!

I will be anxious to hear about the piano move let alone the "lessons?" Let me know how that works out for you.
