It's A Beast Of A Book

Everyone in my family has read, or is now reading The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. It is fantastic, but it is also a BEAST of a book. It's one of those epic 1000 page jobs with tiny print. It is without a doubt the heaviest book I have ever read. It's so heavy that you have to position yourself correctly with the book resting on something or you will get a cramp somewhere on your body... arm, wrist, shoulder. So tonight at dinner my dad told me his solution for dealing with the ginormousness of the book. He simply rips every page out as he reads it. I am pretty sure it is sacrilege to the book God's - but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. He said it is a great motivator to keep reading. It just keeps getting lighter and lighter and lighter. It helps since he travels so much on business. He said the book added like 20 pounds to his carry on bag. Not anymore! :)

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard of. I have had the awsome pleasure of reading every page of that book, and I can truley say, I did not even realize it was heavy. I usually have a pillow on my lap when I sit so that may have helped. Trust your dad to find a way. The book is well worth what ever it takes to get it read. A pure delight to read. Good to the last line of the last page!
