The Crew. The Riverwalk. The Alamo.

Parker decided that he just had to see The Alamo for Spring Break and Demi was in Utah so we decided to take a quick trip. Mallory and Ryan came with us.
Here are pics of downtown San Antonio. It is such a neat city. It was cold, cloudy and rainy all the way there but luckily the rain stopped and we were able to enjoy the day without umberellas.
Carson carried his purse, aka diaper bag, around the whole time. And Parker was an anti-social teenager wearing his iPod the whole day. He thinks he is so cool. It's so cute.
We ate at a yummy mexican restaurant. It was so chilly outside that there were space heaters all around and they gave everyone a poncho-slash-indian horse blanket to warm themselves with. All I could think was... Yikes.
This tree is over 300 years old. I love a city with history. It is so interesting.
And I LOVE The River Walk. It is like a little Venice, Italy - Texas style. :)
Finally we see a little something in the distance. The Alamo through the trees.
Parker and Carson both got wooden muskets and have been playing 'Alamo' since we got home and Parker walks around like he is marching. So funny.
I'm not too sure but I'm guessing this is supposed to be Commander Travis. Parker was freaked out by him - understandably so.
Here is Robert in front of our second Haagen-Dazs stop of the day - ignoring the kids while playing on his iPhone. Good thing Carson is on a leash. :) By the way - that is The Alamo in the backround.
As we were leaving that night I took a quick picture. It just seemed so funny to me to have a video running with The Alamo as a backdrop. I can't imagine what the soliders whould have thought to see it today. Not only the technology and it highlighted in blue - but with the enormous trees around it, the rock music playing and the bright lights of the city. On the flip side - it was interesting to imagine the barron, dusty desert around with nothing for as far as the eye can see.
If you ever get the chance you have to visit The Alamo!

Most likely because it's I've never been there, but I had no idea that the Alamo was smack dab in the middle of the city. I guess I always imagined it being out by itself somewhere....

I've always wanted to see San Antonio. Now I want to even more. It looks so fun. :)

Hil I feel like I was on the trip with you. I love that Mexican resturant, and I love the riverwalk. You told the story so I could see it all in my head. Love your blogging, you are the "dawg man".
